Thanks for the quick reply guys! This baidarka project is going to be a
lot of fun.
Although I know I probably shouldn't do this, but I'm seriously tempted in
altering the hull to accomodate a large sail. Am I right in that a sail will
add torque to the boat and thus 'dig' the front of the boat into the water?
Ah, so
many things to think of!
I found a two-foot long scrap of 0.625" OD, 0.065" wall tubing today. I
definately
can't bend it with my hands, but it crunches rather easily under one foot.
Does
anyone find that their baidarka flexes too much in a heavy sea with the
normal
0.75"/0.5" tubing combination?? (For reference the 0.625" is comparable to
the 0.75"
in terms of area, and 60% bigger(stronger?) than the 0.5".)
