Actualy, w/ the heat seal fabric you can make a reasonably streamlined
shape. The standing ridge seams around the perimeter would tend to make the
edges proud. something like a ziplock half full of watter???

an other thought on the same lines would be a couple of lengths of 4 or 6
inch PVC pipe.(the gray electric conduit stuf is lighter than the white
sched-040) Cap the ends, one w/ a screw fitting. You could cary them in the
same saddlebag manner. Cheap enough and your local HDepo has all the bits
you need. The only disadvantage is you could not fold them up and stow when
done.
You could even carve a dome head for ther front end out of foam to make it
more streamlined. make it look like a kayak w/ sidewinder missiles???
