Though I'm not trying to sway you from building George Dyson's excellent
kayaks as he intended, I have built his double design as a folder using
aluminum stringers and plywood cross sections. On this particular boat, I
also used ply stem and stern plates so no bending was required anywhere on the
kayak.
If you choose to bend only the stem and stern tubes, then a simple
electricians tube bender ( $30.00) will suffice. His boats can also be built
with wood stringers and cross sections ( Single), or even as a
woodstrip/fiberglass.(Double).
