It's got a bit of rocker--I carved some into the bow and tail sections of
the keelson, and the center part has taken on a bit too. Turning the boat
does take a bit of space, but the only thing I have to compare it to is a
flat-bottomed whitewater boat I tried once, which could spin in place.
This one likes to go straight but doesn't insist on it.
I was planning to laminate a coaming lip out of some 3/8 half-round stock
and one or two layers of 1/8" strips. I'm a bit worried about how to fix the
thing to the coaming, since the skin isn't pulled quite tight to the
underlying wood; I may try gluing the bottom laminate to the (poly
covered) skin and also lash the thing to the coaming, pulling it tight
against the underlying wood. Or is there a better way? And how thick
should a coaming lip be? 1/2"? 3/8"? More?
