I tried it with copper flux and low-temp lead-tin solder on 6061,
and I could not for the life of me get the solder to properly wet the Al.
Must be a different kind of flux in the electronics stuff, which makes
sense, given how much Al wiring there is kicking around. One question --
was the Al you were using tinned or coated in any way to make soldering easier?

I like the idea of putting off all the messy, stinky parts of
building the boat until the end of the project.
