I usually build a prototype with free throwaway foam that I scavenge. The
final seat, hip pads and backrest are shaped from foam purchased from any
local kayak shop that outfits kayaks. It is resilient, durable, waterproof
and very commonly used in commercial river and sea kayaks. If you would like
I can send you photos of my outfitted cockpit directly as an attachment
since the list server removes them.
