Well, I lowered the backrest deckbeam slightly, because I couldn't get my
fat *** into the boat with the original-height beam. Can't tell you how
it affects the boat's behavior because the only time it's been in the
water it was covered in saran wrap and didn't float for very long. I
ended up with the back deckridge sloping down a bit from a high point at
the tail crossmember to a low point just aft of the cockpit. This may
have increased flexibility; can't tell for sure yet.

On the subject of flexibility though, if you are a large guy like myself
(220 lbs) you might want to think about making the boat a) stiffer and b)
deeper keeled in the center with more keel rocker built in than Brinck
advises. My boat seemed to bend a bit more than I'd like during the
saran-wrap launch, though it needed to to keep the transom out of the
water.

For an example of a boat with a deeper keel with more rocker, you might
look at the baidarkas that Garry Jackson saw in Alaska.
