aft cockpit support and get the deckridge to run up to
the next deckbeam that is of traditional height. Is
there anybody who has any experience with this kind of
construction?

I am in the process of doing just that. I built a
baidarka from Wolfgang's book 2 winters ago, and like
it very much. But I wanted to be able to do layback
rolls in it. I always thought my next baidarka would
have a lowered rear coaming, but figured it would be
easier to re-fit my existing one. It really was very
easy, with most of the work involved in re-skining the
boat.

I have some pictures up at:

Since I put the skin on, I realized I would need a
little bit more bracing just behind the coaming, so
when I sit there to get into the boat I would have a
bit more support to handle my weight. So there will be
a brace there that spans the 2 cross members.

Boat will be launched in a week or so... Hope all this
works!

See ya-
