Subject: [baidarka] Wood-oil stains on nylon fabric

So I oiled the frame of my boat with a pine-tar-based wood oil (probably
boiled linseed oil, pine tar, turpentine and japan drier), waited three or
four days, then started skinning. The frame is dry to the touch (I did
the old wipe on-wipe off thing with the oil), but in some places it did
stain the fabric a little. I'd originally planned to finish the boat with
some sort of water-born PU varnish like Zar, but now I'm worried about
whether the stuff will stick to the skin at all. Any thoughts? And if
not water-born varnish, then what? I'm tempted to try a two part PU, but
does that have long enough pot time for one person to mix it up, squeegee
it on, then hand mix another batch and squeegee that on before the first
batch has cured too much? Also I'd be delighted to know how much I might
have to fork out for a two part, since project budget is scraping bottom.
Thanks,
Bill
