Hi everyone,
Thought I'd try and post some photos of my low volumn,19"x17'3" @28lbs
Baidarka "Alax"(Whale in Aleut)that I built in June at Corey Freedman's
Skinboat School. I selected a very old bow design (about the time of Aleut
and Russian contact. See Mike Livingston's Baidarka in the book,"Qayaqs and
Canoes")and a modified rear deck for layback rolls a la Greenland style
kayaks,inspired from my friend Warren Williamson's Baidarka. She's fast but
quite manuverable,cuts through 5 footers like butter and surfs like a
