If you can get out to Tofino...but that's on the west side of the
island...but it's a great place. Best surfing this side of Cali, and lots
of other great paddling opps from extreme to sheltered. Otherwise, in the
city, the usual tourist things include the Museum of Nat. History, and
Burchart Gardens.

William- Those black and white photos really bring to life the starkness
of the terrain and hint at the tenuous existence led by the people
living in the Port Burwell / Killinek area .
While kayaks receive scant mention in the following link it might prove
interesting reading as it talks about establishing a North Atlantic Air
Route in 1929. Note the 30 foot tide reference.
