... I noticed that the skin, when flexed, makes a
crackling sound. No cracks are visible.

The boat is covered in nylon and has about 15 coats of water based poly.

Is this normal? Am I putting tiny cracks "leaks" in the skin?

Joe,

I have the same sort of skin and can't say I have heard the sounds you are
referring to - but I have several spots where the PU has completely peeled
off. I'm fascinated that the skin appears to be entirely watertight in
these areas. The spots are in the deck where my toes push up and around the
cockpit in several places. These areas are all above the waterline - so I
assume water would eventually seep in. I guess I would encourage you not to
worry about cracks too much. Although - the PU on my boat's skin seems to
be pretty flexible...

Let us know how things go.
