I think this varies between people.
I don't know of anyone who can go underwater in any head down position
for anything for than a second or two with out water entering their
nose. You have to blow the whole time. With clips while swimming or
snorkeling-no problem, no water and no sinus infection.
I think if you go out for a session of rolling nose clips would be very
helpful. If you're just paddling and don't plan on going under don't
wear them. It's not like they cost $200 and have to be glued to your
nose.
