Hello. I am currently working on two Dyson Baidarka and have used a
lashing provided by George. I have used superglue to saturate and
solidify the lashings. The superglue came from the dollar store where I
got 5 small tubes for $1. Each tube covers goes a long way. It appears
to have worked very well, although I am considering the possibility that
it may make the lashing too brittle and susceptible to breakage. I
won't know until spring, but all indications are that it will work well.

Subject: [baidarka] lashings

HI All......

Does anyone have any opinions concerning a decent material for coating
lashings with something less toxic than epoxy resin? Does simple oiling
of the frame offer any protection to the lashings themselves? I'm
thinking that I might not oil my frame as I will use mostly in salt
water.....but if I go that route, I'm interested in providing some
protection for lashings exposed in the area of the cockpit.

Thanks in advance.
