Im a teacher, not a lumber retailer! I was talking of the embarrassment
of riches we have here in the wet and woody west coast of British
Columbia, and some lengths of yellow cedar I picked from for my canoe
gunnels. I ended up with 16ft 4x4 yellow cedar and some red cedar for
floor boards. It was those riches which allowed the use of huge cedar
logs for sea going dugout canoes.

For those who live in driving distance, I append the address of one
particular cedar mill closest to me. They dont have a web site! They
let me sort through a large stack of yellow cedar 5 2x4s, for rib
stock. People are nice when you say its for boats. Of course, when I
went they werent too busy I made sure of that. Bored and interested,
I got all the help I could need sorting through 16ft and up 4x4s. I
had to sort through lumber because it was at the tail-end of their stock
they were going to be milling again in a few weeks, but I had to get
the wood then. Id phone to ensure they have the dimension of lumber
youre looking for.

Peter, I live in Delta, in an area just off Highway 91A. Its highways
all the way from the border. If you want to get to the mill, drop by
and Ill take you there. Let me know off list.

Patrick
