There are other folks reading these posts who whould like to learn
something. If one person posts something that is both incorrect and
dogmatic, what can those readers learn from that? Don't forget that
this started when one poster contradicted another emphatically. I
asked for some kind of proof to back their statement. I found it
somewhat offensive to see a person with obvious expertise be
contradicted so emphatically by someone who has been posting
information littered with little mistakes.
If you wish to believe anything at all without regard for the facts,
then go right ahead. However, I've been on Baidarka for many years
to learn and share knowledge and that, it seems to me, is the intent
of the forum. Misinformation has no place here. If someone is
offended by being corrected, that is their problem.
BTW, if you really want to be offended, I could forward you the
backchannel e-mail I've received from a couple of list readers. No
critical comment or discussion, just insults. I'm sure you'd be
enlightened to see the difference between their apparent public
persona and their backchannel behavior.

My comment, copied in this post above, does reflect what is quite
common today. Very few people bother to think through what is going
on around them or understand what they do. However, that doesn't
stop them from holding strong opinions. If you're offended by that,
I'm sorry. I think that you should be offended, not because I said
it, but because the situation exists.
