That's a great idea.
I learned while making water rockets with my son that plastic soda
bottles are able to hold something like 300 psi. Or maybe that's where
they burst.
We'd pump them up to 100 psi, with 1/3 of the bottle filled with water
and... I'm drifting off topic.
(flat) Water bottles are less strong, but still pretty durable.
And if you don't want to drink that much soda pop, buy them off a
dumpster diver, they only get something like a nickel each, offer him a
quarter each and he'll fill up your car.
I'll bet you could also come up with a simple way to string 3-4
one-liter bottles together and make a fairly streamlined durable
outrigger float.
( I wonder also if you could also pump up a few bottles prior to a
heavy surf landing and JATO in at 10 knots?)
