That sounds like a '419 Scam' attempt (aka the Advance Fee Nigerian Scam).
It usually works by the scammer pretending to purchase something from
classified ads by sending a valid-looking financial instrument (money orders
seem popular) which covers both the cost of the item and the cost of
shipping the item to a distant address (usually overseas). The seller is
expected to deposit the money order and wire the shipping costs to a third
party. Because it sometimes takes several days before the seller's bank
discovers that the financial instrument is in fact fake, the seller may be
fooled into thinking he\she has actually deposited money.

The hallmarks of the scam are: a 'buyer' in a remote location who wants
money to be forwarded to a third party. They like things like kayaks,
motorcycles, cars, etc, because the items are large enough to 'require' a
large shipping fee.

Does anyone know the name, or ben conatacted by a Giles Grace in regards to
purchasing your kayak???

I have recently ben contacted by this individual about buying one of the
kayaks I have listed and It had all the markings of a scam. In a rush to
send a check, no questions asked, and directions about contacting his
shiping agent for pickup, and then all comunications suddenly cease. Most
strange indeed.
