Wolfgang is right. A playboat is for surf and such and has very little room
at all. It bieng small means that a little bit of weight for or aft can
influence the way in which it maneuvers a lot. See what four inches does in a
14 footer? This might evan be less if Wolfgang has a pfd on. Morris brings
this up in his book as well.
Clarkcraft has a nice little kayak designed by Percy Blandford that in my
opinion would be a good little kayak for throwing on top of, or into your
vehicle and going to your favorite spot to fish or for lake hopping. The PBK 10
measures in at 11.0 feet (335 cm) long and 28 in. (74 cm) wide. This little
baby can carry a load of 300 lbs and weighs in at about 22 lbs (10 kg) however
I think you can get it lighter if you are shrewd. I have seen some
Thanksgiving turkeys weigh more than that! The cockpit is a whopping 4 feet long (122
cm). I think that would be stable enough and give you enough room to use
most any fly casting method you want. It has plans for a rudder and sails as
well. It looks very easy to build. There are a couple of good sites you can
go into showing the step by step building process. Here is my favorite:

I have seen this kayak posted on this site in the past. It was skinned with
nylon I think and looked absolutely sharp! Perhaps if you use the search
input you can find it. Use PBK 10.
