Depends on when and where... for 2 months of the year nearly all of
Alaska is dark... for the rest of the year we enjoy MORE sunlight
than the rest of the US. Nearly 24 hours of sunshine in May June
July... if that doesn't offset the darkness.... then clearly the
thinker is an inherent pessimist.

On the south coast of Alaska aka the Pacific, it is warm and somewhat
rainy throughout the winter... in the Aleutians there is a tad bit of
wind too... we haven't had a mail plane in over a week, and we have
had no phone service for about that long too (not sure why... and not
worried about it.... I am not sure if anyone has had a way to
communicate this with the phone company though : )

In the interior... it was -56 below zero F a couple of weeks ago.
Alaska is big, like comparing Arizona to Minnesota that drastic of
climate difference (actually more difference in AK by temperature
spread... we span a 170 degree F temperature range.

Quality of life IS Alaska! (aka non Chicago style)... I wouldn't
dream of living anyplace else other than Alaska : )
