Thanks all for the advice on the Folbot.

(I didn't save the nalgahyde skin because it was pretty rotten and rats
had nested in it for the past twenty years.. I thought about keeping it
to copy but having seen Tom Yost's webpages on 'skinning' his folding
design-figured I'd be a lot happier copying his method than dealing
with the old mess. The nice lady at FolBot gave me the name of someone
in Washington state who can make replacement skins for $800--but links
to him on the net are all 404. (I also don't want to spend $800).

I seriously doubt there's any historical value to a 1970s nalgahyde/
aluminum tube FolBot. Maybe if it was WWII vintage-Didn't the Brits
'invade' Greece with a FolBot launched from a Sub? I know there was an
SAS mission against Nazi shipping up a river in France that used a
kayak-was that also a FolBot?

So I'm looking at a quick project or forgetting about it. (I had to
drive 275 miles up to get it-freebie. The guy was really nice and my
son and I got to camp in snow and build an igloo--they drip. No
regrets.)

I looked at the clarkcraft page and found a folding double touring
kayak, but very little information aside from a sketchy drawing.
google turns up no images of Clark Craft-only a North Dakota Native
woman in a coracle. Anyone know more?
I'd almost feel better tweaking Tom Yost's design than rolling the dice
with Clarkcraft (I've already had the pig-in-a-poke experience and I
don't think they'll be any compensating camping adventure walking out
to the mailbox to pick-up the Clarkcraft plan).
