Not exactly. It was taxation without representation that was the rallying
cry. Parliament imposed taxes on the colonies, among other reasons, to
help pay for defending the American colonies against the French and
Indians in a war that started on our side of the Atlantic. But because the
colonies had no representation in Parliament, the colonists regarded the
taxes as an imposition by an alien power as opposed to a just tax by their
representatives.

Now we have taxation with representation, which I am sure you will agree
is much better. ;-)
