On Qajaq USA'a web site forum, there's been a lot of discussion about
this. There seems to be a general consensus that oil-based
polyurethanes are better performing. Robert Morris apparently has
stopped using water-based. Two-part aliphatic polyurethanes are the
best performing, but they are expensive and pretty nasty to apply.
