That's my birthday. I'll have to set the alarm early.
I've heard that there was a German POW camp on the Pukaskwa coast of Lake
Superior during WWII. I don't recall whether it was at Pukasaw Depot or
another location, but it was an ideal location, as the nearest railroad
was 60 miles away over very rugged and heavily forested terrain, and there
was no closer road.
There weren't any kayaks on the lake then, however.
