Subject: [baidarka] Finish repairs

I've got a Bruce Lemon standard baidarka, circa 2001. The nylon skin is
finished with a thick coating of Dura-Tuff. She's my only boat, wonderful
to paddle and still hanging tough.
However, I stupidly took it into some shallow waters recently, and got hung
up on some rocks. She's suffered this kind of light abuse from me before
without showing a mark, but this time conditions were such that I really got
stuck (truly by accident). I "sat down" hard on the rocks, which indented
the skin just enough to crack the finish. The marks look like small ovals,
the shape and size of river stones. Other than those minor cracks that are
visible, there's no holes or real damage. No water is leaking through, the
cracks aren't getting bigger.
I'm just wondering, should I leave it well enough alone, or make effort to
repair the finish before something worse happens? If repairs are
recommended, what's the technique? I'm thinking about sanding just enough
to scuff the gloss in those spots, before applying a few more coats
(allowing dry time in between, as usual). I almost hate to crack open a
pricey can of Dura-Tuff just for that... though I could tackle the dinged
finish on the coaming at the same time.
Clues (and a deserved scolding) welcomed!
Thanks as always,
Gina
