I thought that too, at first, Tom, then I checked
http://www.texastowers.com/aluminum.htm
and noticed that for the 1.5" material Texas Towers actually charges USD
2.25 /ft, i.e., twice as much as Jim Heron is asking. So, if there's anyone
out there that actually uses such large diameter tubing, Jim seems to be a
offering a good deal.
Now that I re-read the original post from Charles, however, I note that he
wrote --quote-- 1x1/2 inch --unquote--. That sounds like a rectangular
cross-section solid bar, i.e., not tubing at all. But that does not sound
right! Charles, can you shed more light on this?

Did he only want enough to build a couple of boats ? No need to have
500lbs extruded. Doh !
Texas Towers sells 6063-T832 ( Drawn / .058wall) for about $1.00 ft in 1/8"
increments from 3/8" to well over an inch. They require a whopping $20.00
minimum order . They are listed in the "contacts page" of the "Folding
Kayak Builders Manual".
George Dyson at "Dyson, Baidarka, and Company" sells whatever amount you
want ( no minimum) for about the same price. He used to sell 6061-T6 but I
think he now carries another grade.
