Subject: [baidarka] Very small baidarkas?

A while back, I was all set to build a 13' baidarka derived from Tom Yost's
Nikumi design. I ended up mothballing that for a retrieval, for various
reasons, but I'm once again interested in building a "mini" baidarka.
I'm thinking about 10-12' overall length, 19-20" beam, with a simplified
(read: single chine) cross section similar to CNM-12212 or Tom's FAP-16 and
BIF-16 - i.e. flat deck, and a lot of deadrise. See Harvey's
CNM-12212 replica here:

Should provide a lot of contrast to my slow-but-stable retrieval. I'd also
like to try and 'cheat' the lower hull speed of shorter kayaks, using a
severe Swede-form shape, but obviously one can't change the laws of physics,
only improve efficiency/reduce drag wherever possible. I'm working out the
hull in 3D CAD at the moment, making sure there is enough displacement to
end up with a little positive freeboard.
Maybe more traditional construction, maybe a more exotic frame and stringer
variation - not sure about that yet - but I definately want to reduce the
finished weight (my 10' retrieval tips the scales at 38 lbs!).
Anyone ever built or seen such a diminutive baidarka? I've seen Wolfgang's
14' baidarka, but I'm after something even shorter...
Cheers,
Aaron
