Carlos A. Martinez (email@example.com)
of Cordoba, Argentina has sent us photos of his newly competed PakYak!
Carlos is the first person outside of the United States to build one,
although the mailing list has a lot of international subscribers.
Here are the photos he made of the skinning and launching:
|With the frame complete, wife Amalia sews up the skin at an outdoor sewing station.|
|Frame and skin details:|
Inserting the frame in the skin, then launching under the watchful eye of daughter Lucia.|
Afloat in the Embalse de Rio Tercero! Son Emilio stands by in the inflatable while
Carlos and Amalia give it a try.
Footnotes: Carlos weighs about 76 kg (167 lbs.). During the maiden voyage the steel cable behind him loosened up. You can see a slight flexing near the waterline in the middle picture above. He reports the hardest part of the project was sewing through three layers of cloth/cordura.
