_This time_ ; the "Greenland Baidarka" is nearly ready for skinning :))
A few weeks ago I went for the new skin and definitely wanted something
thinner.
Until now I used 0.6mm thick stuff. Now I want 0.2 up to 0.4mm. My
sailmaker
says that the thin stuff has defects in it which don't bother him but
will keep
me from using it. So I ordered that 0.6mm stuff again. Its Swiss brand
name is
"Stamoid". Then I had the idea of additionally ordering the 0.4mm stuff
for all
the areas where I _know_ I will need several layers and where the extra
thickness
of the 0.6mm Nylon/PVC material is not needed. I'll just have to select
the good
pieces out of the material.
For the deck this time I have purchased a lighter skin, something
"waterproofed"
that is commonly used as a replacement for cotton.
I'll check the weights when I am in my workshop again.
Cheers,
Hendrik
