I used undried, unplaned 1x6 white oak, ripped into 32" x 3/16 thickness,
and then spokeshaved them to shape. Is it foolish to make them thinner? I
followed the recommendations of Bob Boucher on his video, but I noticed his
ribs were much more limber, and seemed thinner, than mine. (Some of his
other stated measurements didn't always seem to visually jibe with the
video) My ponderosa pine frame without the ribs weighed in at 28 lbs. I
haven't weighed it with the ribs, chines and deck slats in place yet. I
wonder how some end up with such a light boat.
Thanks
