I found some hemp string at a local five and dime in their craft section. A
bit expensive at $1.49 for five yards, but hey, spare no expense! I was
happily surprized at the durability and ease for lashing. There was very
little stretch as I used it to lash the bow and stern on to the gunnels. I
imagine that hemp fabric would be equally as durable and would also be
interested if anyone tries it.
