it sounds kinda like my boat, actually mine is one whole inch wider, but is
also tall with a deep V bottom with softer chines. After years of paddling
it I am still not comfortable fishing or taking photos out of it but am
comfortable paddling it . most people who paddle it for the first time
capsize it just as I did when it was new to me. Rather than reducing your
keelson or lowering the volume why not try learning to paddle it. I found my
balance and bracing skills improved quite a bit. enough that I was able to
comfortably paddle Harvey's Caribou kayak for example.
