The builder was most likely Svend Ulstrup, a visitor
from Denmark. Bob Boucher first met him while touring
Europe and invited him to come to the US to teach some
classes. Bob Boucher's video essentially illustrates
Svend's method of building, though Svend always
maintained that you can't learn to build a boat from a
book or a video. Mark Rogers, owner of Superior Kayaks
in Manitowoc Wi is also one of Svend's students and
had him over for one of his rendezvous last year.
Svend was essentially into organic materials, no
plastic or synthetics. This also included his diet.
