Good Heavens! $50 for a steamer? Check the archives, there are tons of
ideas.

I used a tea kettle and piece of aluminum downspout to bend some
wood. Stick a rag loosely in the end to restrict the flow and you're done.

If you really want to spend $50 and stay out of the kitchen, get a
wallpaper steamer and feed it's line into the gutter downspout. I haven't
done it, but my wallpaper steamer generates a heckuva lot of steam and it
should work.
