The only way I have evr really been comfortable for long periods 8 hrs
plus in a kayak is semi-kneeling, with legs folded underneath, straddling
a rolled up something or other like a saddle. This is how the Chugch sat
in their baidarkas and I think they had a good idea. You are up higher
which helps paddling, and balance is actually quite good because you are
really able to move your hips and legs to stay in touch with the
movements of waves and boat. This is prejudiced of course by bigger
higher-hatchwayed boats, but it might be worth a try. And you cannot
operate a rudder with your feet.
