For what it's worth, the plans for the kayak I'm building call for 3.7
oz. Dacron. The recommended heat-shrinking technique is to make up a
little 12" x 6" wood frame and tack some Dacron on it. Then take an iron
and experiment with heat settings until you can shrink it tight in about
20-30 seconds. Use that same heat setting when you do the real boat.
Don't know if the 11.5 oz. Dacron works the same, but the test frame
idea seems good.
Where did you get Dacron this heavy?
