When I made the cockpit area, I wrapped thin PVC strips as a hoop around the coaming, glueing them together until they securely attached the coaming by themselves. Even today, several years later, they still firmly attach. It takes serious force to pull the coaming off the skin. The coaming is shown inverted to show where it fits the skin.
